MAIN STREET TO BE CLOSED IN SECTIONS FOR TRENCH REPAIRS
Full Description:
The City of Suwanee will close sections of Main Street for sewer line trench repairs beginning June 18. Without these repairs, the road would continue to deteriorate. Work to repair the trenches will be completed in four phases, and sections of Main Street will be closed from approximately June 18-July 7 during the first three phases.
The section of Main Street from Stonecypher Road to Russell Street will be closed beginning June 18 during the first phase of repairs. Upon completion of this initial phase, that section will be reopened and the road will be closed from Russell Street to Scales Road; this is expected to occur around June 25-28. Sometime between June 28 and July 3, Main Street will be closed from Scales Road to Scales Street for the third phase of repair. Upon completion of the trench repair work, Main Street will be resurfaced.
Dates provided are estimates; beginning and ending closure dates are dependent upon weather, equipment, and construction factors. Residents also should be aware that they may not have access to their driveways at all times.
“We realize that these closings are going to be really inconvenient, especially for residents and businesses on Main Street,” says Suwanee Public Works Director James Miller, “but this repair work is absolutely essential. We’ll do our best to keep the inconveniences at a minimum, and we thank residents and business owners in advance for their cooperation and patience.”
