Indigo Joe’s of Suwanee is partnering with The Gwinnett County Department of Family and Children Services once again. This time, DFCS and the family-friendly restaurant hope to give some local foster kids a very Happy Easter this year.
In December 2007, Indigo Joe’s launched an Angel Tree Campaign so patrons and staff of the local Sports Pub & Restaurant could provide more than 30 needy children with one of their Christmas wishes. After the heartwarming response and overwhelming success of the holiday event, Charlene Linkowski – owner of Indigo Joe’s – wanted to do more. “The incredible people who work at Gwinnett DFCS are dedicated to seeing that these foster children lead happy and normal lives. They don’t want these kids to have to ‘go without’, and neither does Indigo Joe’s,” states Linkowski.
Beginning March 1, patrons of the family-friendly establishment are asked to bring in a basket filled with Easter goodies. Easter falls early this year – March 23 – so those wishing to make a donation will need to do so as soon as possible. Indigo Joe’s will deliver the baskets they collect to DFCS case managers on March 10, who will then see that the kids get them in time for Easter Sunday. Donors are also asked to use only individually wrapped candy and new toys, books or gifts when stuffing these special baskets – and please don’t forget about the older foster kids. Many of the teens the Department serves need a Happy Easter all the more.
For every filled basket delivered to the restaurant, Indigo Joe’s will present the donor with a $5.00 “Joe’s Bucks” certificate that can be used toward food or beverage purchases at the Suwanee location. Indigo Joe’s Sports Pub & Restaurant is located at 3890 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Suwanee (adjacent to Suwanee Town Center Park).
For those wishing to donate directly to the Gwinnett County Department of Family and Children Services, they may contact Deborah Barinowski, Volunteer Resource Coordinator, at (678) 518-5758 to learn the best ways to contribute, and possibly make a difference in a child’s life this spring. Indigo Joe’s wishes to thank its patrons in advance for their support of this worthy cause.
